Continuous Courage

With all the upheaval in the world, why bother making plans for the future? Living a big life requires courage every day. Let’s learn how to have continuous courage in the face of uncertainty.

Everybody’s future is unknown – which is why it is hard to let go of the daunting powers of uncertainty. We’re all striving to get to the next level of success in all aspects, whether physical, financial, spiritual, or emotional. But not a single one of those areas in our lives promises an ounce of certainty.

Certainty in the Midst of Uncertainty

But we should remind ourselves that the language of uncertainty has been going on for thousands of years! The future has always been unknown but it seems we never get used to that feeling of losing control over things we can’t foresee. The future was never carved on stone. The future has been as uncertain as thirty years ago, a hundred years ago, and since the world ever began.

The future was meant to be unpredictable, and that’s acknowledged as part of the beautiful pattern of life. Imagine if the world has a ticket for certainty. You would fear absolutely nothing knowing that you’re going to be rich in the next five years, or you’re going to start your perfect little family a decade from now.

But it doesn’t work that way, and that’s perfectly fine. This is the part where we need courage!

Playing in the Light

In the early 1900s, Wallace Wattles wrote a book called “The Science of Getting Rich.” He touches a quick portion about fear the future, and this line struck me – “The earth is going to hell. There is no such thing! The world is not going to hell. The world is going to heaven.”

This clicks perfectly with the law of harmony that tells us that everyone needs to stay in balance. There is evil, pain, and upset going on in the world, and this particular universal law tells us to release as much positivity as possible to stay in balance. Choose to play in the light!

With all the bad news waiting every day to be broadcast to us on our televisions and phones, the world needs more light than ever. We need messages of peace, humor, and courage – everything that indicates certainty over our lives. Pay attention to the light and place more energy there.

“I’m Going To Die!”

I remember listening to a famous life coach who made one hundred million a year in her business a few years back. One question stood out from the rest. She was asked, “What makes you take risks? What goes through your mind when you decide on doing things you’ve never done before?”

You won’t believe her answer… but it was a blunt “I’m going to die.”

It created a vast silence across the room that slowly turned into breaks of little waves of laughter. But she remained serious and insisted, “That is really what goes through my mind – I’m going to die.”

That was powerful. Every single human knows that none of us are going to make it alive. We never know when we’re going to go, but all we know for sure is that the inevitable day of saying goodbye will come. This might sound like a scary idea to repeat to yourself – but not if you say it this way:

“If I’m going to die, I don’t want to go without having experienced this.”

If we all knew there was a limit to our existence here, why do we let our fears take charge of us? Our dreams help us envision what we want in this one life we have, but courage fuels us to go for it.

A Conversation With God

“What did you do with the opportunities you were given back on earth?”

Imagine meeting God after death and being asked that. I would surely never want to end up answering Him that I was scared and that I wasted almost all the opportunities they fed me! I would hate to end up reporting that my worries devoured my stay here after my precious time in the world. All the heavenly interventions He created just for me was thrown to waste – all because of the lack of courage.

What I want to tell them is that I had a blast and his divine nudges enchanted me. That I was faithful and courageous enough to go from one uncertain step to another and that I lived the happiest life I could ever experience.

The Bottom Line

Can you imagine yourself in that same conversation? Let me know what you find yourself saying! Courage is a tool we don’t use when we are comfortable, confident, or ready. But there are times when the only way to move forward is through the steps of courage!
