Do you have your exit buddy?

Through this journey to higher thinking, I’ve come to learn of the priceless value of like-minded people. When you’re working to reset your default from scarcity and fear to abundance and certainty, it’s crucial to have at least one person you can lean on when your thoughts just won’t behave. I call this person my “exit buddy.”

Like in “Finding Nemo,” an exit buddy goes with you on the journey and helps make it not only bearable, but enjoyable and memorable. They are especially handy when you need to “exit” from lower vibrating thoughts of doubt, disbelief, discouragement  or fear because they offer a quick escape when you just don’t have access to those higher vibrations.

My exit buddy is my husband Jeremy. When I feel myself spiraling down, I can tell him and he applies the brakes by talking me through it, reminding me of the blessings in the situation without being condescending or making it unacceptable to feel the way I feel at the time. Sometimes I’ll have him push down on my shoulders to help me stay grounded, and that really helps. He cuts my downward spirals into a fraction of the amount of time I used to spend climbing out of them. What a blessing! If you want to read about our experience  last week with the ER and low vibes, you can go HERE.

An exit buddy stops the spiral before it’s out of control and you’re in the fetal position or giving up on everything. If your spouse or partner isn’t in a position to be your exit buddy yet, honor their process but seek a different exit buddy in a trusted friend or colleague.  Then,  like Dory and Marlin did right before riding the EAC, cling to each other and enjoy the ride!
