Are there times when you act manipulative and controlling? Or when you’re just feeling lost? Are you trying to fix other people’s flaws? Have you ever been told that you are overly critical or a nitpicker? Yeah, we all have those episodes in our lives that we’re not proud of.
Most often, we don’t know why we behave that way. It’s like we turn into someone we wouldn’t like to meet, let alone spend time with. But it doesn’t mean we’re bad people! We act in a certain way because we feel (dis)empowered.
In addition, both in moments of glory and decline, our behavior depends on the energy we’ve been more into – feminine or masculine. So I hope you’re ready for a little bit of a deeper exploration into feminine and masculine energies.
I’ve said it before, but I’ll repeat: Everyone is born with both feminine and masculine energy – it has nothing to do with gender roles. And we create best using the correct ratio of feminine to masculine. But what’s the golden ratio that allows us to be the best version of ourselves?
Find out in this episode, as I’m talking about the difference in energy between feminine and masculine and how we show up when we feel empowered and disempowered. Tune in to learn how to hit the perfect balance that keeps you happy, energized, and productive.
Let’s dive in!
Feminine vs. Masculine
We’ve already mentioned the two energies of creation – feminine and masculine (check out this episode). It’s important that we know the difference between the two and how to work with each of them.
As you know, we haven’t actually been taught very well how to lead out with our feminine energy or to hit the balance between the two sides. And what’s the perfect ratio? Is it 50%:50%, as most of us expect? Nope!
As women, it’s better that we’re in feminine energy 70% of the time and 30% in masculine energy. And for men, it’s just the opposite.
Spending 70% to 80% of the time in your feminine energy has astounding effects – it keeps you focused, joyful, energized, and makes you more efficient. You’ll find so much relief as you slip more into feminine energy.
When you lead with the feminine and allow the masculine to serve and support it, you will naturally begin to let go of the hustle, grind, and struggle. You’ll learn how to bend time and space so you can create any reality you desire with ease and joy.
What’s the best part? Although this does belong to your divine feminine nature, it’s also a skill. You can learn it. And it’s never too late to start.
So first, let’s just quickly go through the feminine and masculine qualities list. While reading, think about where do you see yourself.
- FEMININE – MASCULINE:
- Being – Doing
- Spontaneous – Predictable
- Intuitive – Logical
- Playful – Thinking
- Beautiful – Functional
- Invisible – Concrete
- Dynamic – Sturdy
- Circular – Linear
- Vulnerable – Protective
- Nurturer – Provider
- Community (We) – Individuality (I)
- Receiving – Giving
- And – Or
- Pull – Push
- Flow – Structure
Disempowered vs. Empowered?
Are you in the masculine camp more often than the feminine camp? I would imagine the answer is yes. It’s not your fault – it’s just the way we were taught over the centuries.
Also, we are taught to be disempowered way more than to be empowered. The reason for that is pretty simple – it’s a whole lot easier to control someone when they feel disempowered. With full awareness of the fact and zero judgment, let’s focus on our behavior when feeling (dis)empowered.
It’s important to notice how we act in those two situations because it will help us see when we’re off track so that we can get back on the horse again and lead out in empowered feminine energy.
I just have to point out again (please don’t roll your eyes) – this isn’t how women or men show up when they’re disempowered. We have both feminine and masculine energies within us, so this applies to all.
Showing up When Feeling Disempowered
When you’re feeling disempowered, you’re acting differently depending on whether you’re leading with the feminine or the masculine.
- disempowered feminine shows up as controlling, manipulative,
disempowered masculine shows up as feeling lost; - disempowered feminine is pushing energy (but it’s the “figure it out,” “push the boulder up the hill” kind of energy),
disempowered masculine shows up as feeling withdrawn or isolating; - disempowered feminine shows up as martyr energy,
if you’re in disempowered masculine, you show up as defensive; - when you’re in disempowered feminine, you go into blame really quickly,
when you’re in disempowered masculine, you show up as needy; - if you’re in disempowered feminine, you feel stuck and helpless,
if you’re in disempowered masculine, you’re more in sabotage or destroy kind of energy (It can also include self-sabotage); - disempowered feminine is the chasing kind of energy;
disempowered masculine is a fall-in-line / compliant sort of energy; - when you’re in disempowered feminine, your feelings get hurt easily,
when you’re in disempowered masculine, you feel defiant, and you’re in rebelling kind of energy. - disempowered feminine is hidden energy (Why can’t anybody see me? Why doesn’t anybody notice me?),
disempowered masculine feels shut down; - disempowered feminine shows up as demanding,
disempowered masculine shows up as resentful; - disempowered feminine is all about fixing (Most the time it’s about fixing other people’s flaws),
disempowered masculine shows up as nitpicking or being overly critical; - disempowered feminine is in judgment and pity,
disempowered masculine is complacent or smug (It’s kind of the “I told you so” energy); - disempowered feminine feels like unsatisfied longing,
disempowered masculine feels like insecure pleasing.
Showing up When Feeling Empowered
- when you’re in empowered feminine energy, you want to organize things (It’s an energy of order),
empowered masculine is a searching energy; - empowered feminine is a gathering or pulling energy,
empowered masculine is a pushing energy; - empowered feminine is about nurturing,
empowered masculine is protecting; - empowered feminine is nourishing,
empowered masculine is providing;
(Notice the difference: nurturing/nourishing are all about connection while protecting/providing are not so much about connecting) - empowered feminine looks like flow,
empowered masculine looks like structure (which supports the flow); - empowered feminine is all about pleasure,
empowered masculine is all about pleasing; - empowered feminine is vulnerability or willingness to be seen,
empowered masculine is actually hidden (But in this case, it means observant); - empowered feminine leads with desire,
empowered masculine is very decisive; - empowered feminine inspires,
empowered masculine achieves. - empowered feminine is all about the community or the collective,
empowered masculine is territorial (having ownership); - empowerment feminine is all about inviting,
empowered masculine is all about challenging; - empowered feminine feels like passion and arousal (feeling alive),
empowered masculine is all about freedom and adventure; - when you’re in empowered feminine, oxytocin is released (a cuddle hormone that makes you want to get closer to someone and have a greater connection with someone),
when you’re empowered masculine, dopamine is released (a mood-boosting hormone that’s released when you reach a goal).
