Are you feeling crabby?
Let’s talk about crabs–the ones you eat! You can learn a lot about how life and manifesting work by looking at nature. Crabs are fascinating animals. Did you know when a bunch of crabs are thrown into a pot together, if one of them tries to get out the others will PULL HIM BACK DOWN and prevent him from escaping? How sad is that? Crab harvesters don’t even bother putting lids over the buckets. There’s no need. And so the crabs’ fates are doomed because they want nothing more than to sabotage each other.
As human beings we sometimes behave like crabs. It’s called crab mentality, which follows along the lines of ‘If I can’t have it neither can you.’ Sometimes this refers to people we hang out with who, out of envy or jealousy, try to keep us from obtaining our dreams simply because they’re not brave enough to go for their own dreams.
More often, however, the crabs that keep pulling you down are your own thoughts. How many times do you think about something you’d like to attain–a better job, a great vacation, a new house or car–and immediately shoot it down as wishful thinking, impossible, or crazy? Even worse is when we actually start walking in the direction of our dreams and then let our fear thoughts take center stage: “Who do you think you are? No one will listen to you. What sort of influence do you think you have?” And those voices get so loud they can paralyze us in our progression.
The good news is, though, is that you are not the crab. You are the harvester! You decide which thoughts are worth growing and which ones are crabby and need to be tossed out.
The trick is to be aware of your thoughts. Be aware of how you’re feeling, and if you’re feeling frustrated, discouraged or fearful you can bet it’s because of the crabby thought pot you’re in. You are always stronger in faith than in fear. When you refuse–REFUSE–to let those crab thoughts take over and, when those crabby thoughts start creeping in, you instead fill your mind with the outcome you desire, the crabs will starve to death and you will be left with a bountiful, beautiful harvest!
What do you do when the crabs start pulling you down? Comment below and let’s share some great tips!
Excellent article. I love the analogy of the crabs in the pot and our thoughts. When the crabs start pulling me down, I step away, take a few deep breaths to clear my mind, and review the accomplishments that I’ve achieved to date. 🙂
Never knew that about crabs. Learned something new, and it is a GREAT analogy for us today. Good job!
I love the analogy of the crabs Allyson. So very true! Gotta share this with my peeps. 😉
Oh and….You had my attention as soon as you said crabs lol (crab legs happens to be one of my favorite foods!).
This is great! Often we think of other people as the crabs pulling us down but gotta recognize our own thoughts that pull us down and remind ourselves we are not crabs!
Great way to get out of that negative energy, Zina! I am going to do that the next time I start getting “crabby”! Thanks for the comment.
I’m glad you liked the analogy, Judy. Ah yes, crab legs. I prefer lobster over crab myself. But they’re handy little creatures in many ways!
Thanks Clarissa. I think that so often people put the blame on others for their own circumstances. As humans we tend to do that. But when we become aware of how completely our thoughts play into our reality, then we tap into that power that helps us to change.
Look at that, Trudy: you learned something new today! I thought that was fascinating about crabs. Thanks for your comment.
I loved this! Super cool analogy! I’m going to take some deep breathes and think of this analogy when I start having negative thoughts. Thanks for sharing! I’ m going to pass it on. So cool! =)
I meant breaths
Fabulous analogy! I am fortunate to have a spouse who is on the same path/page as me. We are there to help each other monitor those thoughts!
Surround yourself with people who don’t pull you down, and better yet, lift you up! Our core group of people that we spend the most time with will in some way, determine how far we go.
I really like it when people come together and share opinions.
Great website, continue the good work!
Sometimes we just need to let it all boil up but there will be better days. About gitteng out of it? I have realized that a good workout actually helps me get rid of the moodyness. Cuddling with my cats also helps. Keep it up!
Dont’cha just love how we mom’s neglect to look at the cdnleaar with our meal planning? I just about did the SAME thing but switched to leftovers at the last minute. Hehehe As for your baby (adorable!) she’ll potty train when ready. Thanks for visiting my site! I do believe that’s the first time I’ve heard of someone putting mail in the fridge. HEHEHETake care!Dee
