Prosperity Hack #3: Why Trying Hard Doesn’t Work

I had a client once who told me over and over again about how HARD she was trying, but nothing was changing. When I pointed out that there is no such thing as ‘try’, you either do it or you don’t, she changed the language from trying so hard to ‘working so hard.’ And yet still nothing was changing.

Do you ever feel like you’re trying (or working) SO HARD not to think about lack, but nothing is changing!

If you’re trying really hard to change your situation but nothing is working, take a deep breath and stop trying. If you’re going to build true, lasting prosperity, it requires you to let go of pushing so hard all the time. In fact, working and trying so hard may be the exact reason why nothing is working. Rather than striving and forcing prosperity, you bring prosperity through by being calm and relaxed, and directing your attention to it already being here.

There is a universal law called The Law of Reversed Effort. It states that the harder you try the less likely you are to succeed. Aldous Huxley said, “The harder we try with the conscious will to do something, the less we shall succeed. Proficiency and the results of proficiency come only to those who have learned the paradoxical art of doing and not doing, or combining relaxation with activity, of letting go as a person in order that the immanent and transcendent unknown quantity may take hold. We cannot make ourselves understand; the most we can do is to foster a state of mind, in which understanding may come to us.” (The Law of Reversed Effort)

When your desire and imagination are in conflict, the imagination will win.

Using this hack in your own life:

So, how do you stop trying so hard? When you’re at your wits end from working so hard, feeling frustrated, discouraged, overwhelmed and defeated, take a breath. Literally, take a deep, deep breath. The most effective way to influence your subconscious is when you’re in a relaxed, drowsy, sleepy state. Get yourself in a relaxed state by closing your eyes, breathing deep and just focusing on counting your breaths. After a few minutes you’ll feel yourself lighten and loosen up physically. When you’re feeling sleepy and drowsy, imagine what you want and how it feels to have it. Spend 5-10 minutes in this state, letting your desires flow into your subconscious mind instead of forcing them in. Trying so hard is an indication that you’re getting in your way and repelling prosperity, so stay calm in the moment, get yourself relaxed, and THEN go to work on your subconscious.
